On 4 February 2018, I created the first commit on a POC to bring Azure Monitor metrics to Prometheus. Naming things is hard, so I called Promitor as a nice nod towards Prometheus & Azure Monitor.

Fast forward to today, where Promitor has become an open-source product with a fancy landing page and is being used companies such as Adobe, Albert Heijn, Axon, The Trade Desk and many more.

It has grown to allow you to use 40+ scrapers, use resource discovery and bring metrics to Prometheus, StatsD, Atlassian Statuspage, and soon even OpenTelemetry (๐Ÿ—๏ธ).

๐Ÿ’ก Want to learn more about Promitor? Here's a nice overview of how it works.

But Azure has so many more Azure services that are ready to be scraped! The backlog has more than 60+ new scraper ideas waiting to be added by somebody.

Contribute & win! ๐ŸŽ

As the sole maintainer of the project, it is hard to keep up with the booming amount of Azure services and great ideas from the community.

While people are contributing back every now and then, but I could use some extra pair of hands - So let's do it together!

Effective immediately, every contribution to Promitor of a help-wanted issue gives you a ticket for the Promitor raffle as part of our hackathon!

Learn more about the hackathon in our FAQ below or on GitHub.

So what can you win? Great question! You can win one of the following prices:

  • $25 sent to you, or donated to a GitHub project of your choice
  • $50 sent to you, or donated to a GitHub project of your choice
  • $60 coupon for the GitHub store
While we prefer winners to donate their prize to one of the projects that they depend on, it is fully up to you to decide! #contributeback๐Ÿ’

Let's make Promitor even more powerful together and have some fun!

Thanks for reading and your help!
